Welcome to Early Years!

We cover three topics over the year:

Autumn: PROUD to be Me!

Spring: All Creatures Great and Small

Summer: A Journey Through time

To enhance these topics further, we go on local walks to the park and deliver a letter to the postbox, in Spring term we also go to Amerton Farm.

Reading is at the heart of all we do, we have daily story time, and each of our classroom has cosy ready areas so that we can enjoy books together.

Our community project is making Christmas cards and crafts for a local nursing home.

Please look at our page to see some of our learning in action. You can also find our termly newsletters with key information for the term.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office who will be able to direct you to the year group lead, Mrs Gardiner.

Early Years Intent Statement

Phonics and Reading

We use Ruth Miskin’s scheme titled Read Write Inc to support the teaching of phonics.

We run parent workshops in school to ensure that parents are aware of this scheme and how our teaching of phonics is preparing children as early readers.
